Sydney Richardson is a versatile dancer and budding choreographer native to Los Angeles, CA, and a recent graduate of UCLA with degrees in Dance and African American Studies. She has trained over the past 12 years in various styles including Jazz, Contemporary, Liturgical, and Hip Hop, Modern, Ballet, and Tap. Professionally, she has performed in both concert and commercial settings, including CONTRA-TIEMPO's "Azúcar" premiere at The Ford Los Angeles, in the upcoming documentary film "Last Tango in America" directed by Robert Sobul, and has trained and worked with Wilfried Souly, the Radio City Rockettes, Blue13 Dance Company, Dana Wilson, Kara Mack's Africa In America, and Lula Washington.
Her movement blends jazz, contemporary, Afro, modern, ballet, and commercial styles, reflecting her passion for storytelling through dance. Sydney has choreographed and performed original works for UCLA's World Arts and Cultures/Dance Department, the South Bay Lakers Halftime Show, and local Los Angeles stages. Most recently, she completed an apprenticeship with Los Angeles Choreographers and Dancers under the direction of Louise Reichlin, performing throughout Southern California.
Beyond performance, Sydney is passionate about creative direction and production. She produced UCLA's "WACsmash 2025: The Third" undergraduate concert and organized a two-day on-campus residency with choreographer Charm La'Donna in 2024. She has also interned with L.A. Dance Project, Emily Wanerski and WHYTEBERG's "JUMPSTART/LA", and CONTRA-TIEMPO Activist Dance Theater. Sydney teaches and choreographs for youth across Los Angeles and is dedicated to using dance as a vehicle for joy, empowerment, and accessibility for all.
