Forrest "E.Q." West was born into music and he's been shaping its future ever since.
The son of Grammy Award-winning artist Deniece Williams, E.Q. was raised not just on melody and harmony, but on the inner workings of the music business itself. At just nine years old, a moment backstage in London, watching his mother perform, sealed his fate: music wasn't just in his blood it was his calling.
By his teen years, he'd formed his first Pop/R&B group, Keyz2poetry, a project that attracted interest from major labels like Hollywood Records. Though the group ultimately disbanded, E.Q. pressed forward, refining his skills as a singer, songwriter, and producer. He studied at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, mastering both the technical and creative sides of his craft.
E.Q.'s signature sound a rich blend of R&B, Pop, and Hip-Hop caught the attention of major media outlets. In 2011, his career reached a new level when he landed his first music placement with ESPN. Since then, he's curated, written, produced, and performed tracks for top-tier brands and networks including FOX, CBS, the NFL, STX, The Undefeated, Louisville Slugger, and the European League of Football.
