Stefanie is a writer, editor, and impact communicator specialising in human-centered and ocean storytelling for conservation and cultural preservation. She transitioned into impact storytelling and multimedia production full time when she joined Nature Environment Wildlife Filmmakers (NEWF), developing communication strategies presented at National Geographic, scripting visual reports and steering new creative platform development and long-form impact stories. Her work spans two Editor-in-Chief roles for print magazines, documentary film research, video script writing, story development, and multimedia creative development, direction and curation. She has juried the WeNaturalist Awards and contributed to 2024/2025 Encounters SA International Documentary Festival as a reader.
A SCUBA Divemaster, Freediver and former director of #SeaTheBiggerPicture, she has led ocean advocacy initiatives and facilitated youth ocean access programs. She most recently joined a dynamic team to co-develop and facilitate a Science Communication program designed to bridge the gap between science and society, alongside Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) and the Center of Studies in Oil and Gas Engineering and Technology (CS-OGET) at at Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique.
Her narrative exploration work includes moderating at the 4th annual Emerge Story Conference, founded and produced by Ololade Okedare. 'Telling Untold Stories: The Role of Filmmaking in Preserving Africa's Natural History', explored the power of visual storytelling in conservation and cultural preservation alongside an all-female panel featuring Kristina Obame (Filmmaker, Gabon), Lilian Ike-Okoro (Filmmaker, Nigeria), Labdi Ommes (Musician and Artist, Kenya), Inès Arsi (Filmmaker, Tunisia) and Imara Njeri (Photography, Kenya).
In April 2025 she produced and led an intimate narrative exploration on stage at the 2025 chapter of the NEWF Congress where 'In Conversation with Kamau Sadiki' invited the audience to explore how documenting the past brings stories about the African to life, fostering healing and ushering in a new era of connection between Africa and the diaspora.
