Gurtej Dhanda is an Indo-Canadian filmmaker, director, writer, and cinematographer based in Ontario, Canada. Born in Punjab, India, Gurtej developed a passion for filmmaking at a young age, inspired by storytelling and the dream of working in cinema.
He is the founder of Dhanda Films, an independent production company where he creates narrative, commercial, and behind-the-scenes content. He has gained hands-on experience across multiple areas of film production, including directing, cinematography, camera operation, photography, casting, and production support.
A graduate of Humber Polytechnic’s Film and Television Production program, Gurtej has worked on a variety of short film productions in Canada, contributing in roles such as camera assistant, casting director, still photographer, sound mixer, and filmmaker. His approach to filmmaking is rooted in learning every aspect of production while continuously developing his craft behind the camera.
Gurtej aims to build a career directing feature films and contributing to both the Canadian and Punjabi film industries. He continues to develop his work through independent projects and collaborations, focusing on visual storytelling that connects with audiences across cultures.
