Katya Chapiro is a director, actress, and visual artist with a diverse and international background. A graduate of Bow Street Academy and the Gaiety School of Acting, she has extensive experience on both screen and stage. As a director, she specializes in bringing the hidden, subtle, and surreal to life onscreen.
Her award-winning short film, The Human Body, is an exploration of humanity's instinctive journey from innocence to complexity. Set on a minimalist theatre stage, the film follows six bodies as they awaken, interact, and evolve from simple tasks to emotional entanglements, revealing the fragile and cyclical nature of human life.
Originally from Russia, Chapiro has lived in Denmark, Italy, and Poland before making Ireland her home. She has worked across various industries, enriching her creative perspective. In addition to her work in film and theatre, she has experience in art direction and fine arts.
