Biography

Fay Vincent was born on May 29, 1938 in Waterbury, Connecticut, USA. He is known for The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg (1998), The Top 5 Reasons You Can't Blame... (2005) and Frontline (1983). He was married to Christina Watkins and Valerie McMahon. He died on February 1, 2025 in Vero Beach, Florida, USA.

Served as the eighth Commissioner of Baseball, 13 September 1989 - 7 September 1992. He resigned after baseball's team owners voted against him 18-9 on a no-confidence resolution.

Inducted into the New England Collegiate Baseball League Hall of Fame in 2010 (inaugural class).

Graduated cum laude from Williams College and went on to Yale Law School, eventually becoming a partner at the law firm Caplin & Drysdale in Washington, D.C.

Former Major League Baseball commissioner who helped guide it through the 1989 earthquake, a 1993 expansion of the National League, and other key milestones in the sport.
