Biography

Judith Kerr was born on June 14, 1923 in Berlin, Germany. She was a writer, known for When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit (2019), Mog's Bad Thing and BBC Sunday-Night Theatre (1950). She was married to Nigel Kneale. She died on May 22, 2019 in London, England, UK.

She was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2012 Queen's Birthday Honours List for her services to children's literature and Holocaust Education. She is a writer and illustrator.

Her family fled to Great Britain in 1933 after receiving death threats in Germany. Her father, Alfred, was a Jewish intellectual and theatre critic who was on a Nazi hit list.

Daughter of Alfred Kerr (1867-1948), German writer and critic.

Sister of Sir Michael Kerr (1921-2002), jurist.
