IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Loren "Bud" Good was born in Ashland, Oregon and raised in Red Bluff, California and Klamath Falls, OR. His father, Loren David Good, was a railroad man, the last hostler of steam trains for the Southern Pacific. Bud punched cows in his youth, worked for the railroad, and served in the Army Air Corps in WWII. He then began a career in newspapers and PR while also doing freelance writing for, among others, the ViewMaster company.

In 1955 he published a children's book, "Panchito", the story of a one-eyed parrot who ran a ranch in Mexico. His short story "And the Desert Shall Blossom" was published in "Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine" and later picked up by Alfred Hitchcock.

A well-read autodidact, his vocabulary was so large that he always worked the "New York Times" crossword puzzle in pen.
