Born in rural Missouri as the youngest child of a waitress and a carpenter, J. Muskrat was schooled at home until the age of sixteen; at which point he began attending Missouri State University with an emphasis on Film & Theatre production.
Muskrat left MSU in 2015 to begin production on his sci-fi series, Into the Dark Abyss; which would later bankrupt him.
After creating the world of Droughtland as an escape for friends and family during the 2020 pandemic, Muskrat turned it into an anthology audio adventure the following year.
