Biography

Iain Cash is a filmmaker and actor from the working-class town of Wigan, Northern England. From his earliest days, he was captivated by cinema-first through trips to the local cinema with his parents, and later through the quirky tradition of renting VHS tapes from the local "video man," who loaned films from the back of his car. That spark of wonder turned into creativity when, as a child, Iain began making homemade monster movies using a friend's video camera, toy trains, and a pet hamster.

He pursued his passion academically, studying film and acting through college and university, ultimately graduating with a BA in Film. Iain's first "proper" short film, The Jumper, was shot on 16mm and marked the beginning of a career that would balance both technical skill and storytelling heart.

Professionally, Iain cut his teeth as a camera operator on numerous high-profile television shows, including Most Haunted and Derren Brown, as well as countless commercial campaigns.

But filmmaking has always been his true calling. He first gained recognition with a series of award-winning comedic shorts, before turning to more serious drama after the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing. His emotionally charged short Forever Manchester explored the anguish of parents trying to find their child amid a tide of misinformation. His subsequent work, including the acclaimed Dear John, I'm Sorry (2020) and the haunting Chapel of Rest (2022), has won awards for directing, writing, and performance at festivals around the world. His latest short, The Circle (2025), is on the festival circuit and already generating critical acclaim.

Iain is now developing his first feature-length projects: The Bodybuilder, in which he will also star and undergo a dramatic physical transformation, and The Ragged Doll. Both are grounded, character-driven dramas set in the North of England, staying true to Iain's roots and cinematic voice. With a body of work that spans comedy, drama, and the supernatural, Iain Cash continues to craft stories that are honest, evocative, and deeply human.

His films have been screened globally and recognized for their authenticity, emotional depth, and strong visual storytelling.
