Charlie Peacock, born Charles William Ashworth in Yuba City, California, is a Nashville-based, (4x) Grammy® Award-winning record producer, composer, singer-songwriter, and jazz musician. Peacock has had major pop hits in three decades - Amy Grant's "Every Heartbeat" (1991), Switchfoot's "Dare You to Move" (2002), and The Civil Wars' Gold debut album, Barton Hollow (2011). He also produced the #1 Billboard Pop debut, The Civil Wars (2013), featuring his co-write, "The One That Got Away."
Charlie has had three decades of TV syncs for his songs and productions, from the TV series FAME in the 1980s to the 2017 finale of CMT's Nashville. Also, he is the producer and co-composer of the title theme for AMC Network's TURN: Washington's Spies (4 seasons). Film credits include A Walk to Remember, Something Borrowed, Hot Pursuit. Additionally, Charlie produced the Chris Cornell and Joy Williams duet for the 12 Years A Slave Soundtrack Album on Columbia Records, Executive Produced by John Legend (the film won the Oscar for Best Motion Picture).
Charlie is the Founder/Director Emeritus of the Commercial Music Program, Lipscomb University, Nashville, Tennessee, and a former Sr. A&R Consultant for EMI, Downtown Music Publishing, and Sony/ATV Music Publishing. From 2016 - 2021, Charlie was composer/producer-in-residence with the Facebook/Instagram global music initiative.
Jazz collaborators include John Patitucci, Chris Potter, Ravi Coltrane, Marc Ribot, Jeff Coffin, Felix Pastorius, Don Alias, Joey Baron, Béla Fleck, James Genus, Kirk Whalum, and Victor Wooten. Production credits include The Civil Wars, Turtle Island String Quartet, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Holly Williams (with Jackson Browne, Jakob Dylan, and Gwyneth Paltrow), The Lone Bellow, Switchfoot, Brett Dennen, Jon Foreman, Kris Allen, and Ben Rector.
Charlie has been married to the writer, Andi Ashworth, since 1975. Their son is the Oscar-nominated songwriter Sam Ashworth (One Night In Miami, "Speak Now"). Sam and his wife singer-songwriter Ruby Amanfu are co-writers of "Hard Place," the Grammy® nominated, break-out hit for H.E.R.. Peacock's daughter Molly, and son-in-law Mark Nicholas (music publisher "Way Maker"), are co-founders of the music platform, Noisetrade.
