- Hailing from Pallisa in Eastern Uganda, David Patrick Omutia is a distinguished artist, scriptwriter, and creative director dedicated to the elevation of Ugandan storytelling. A graduate of Makerere University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Drama and Film, David has systematically built a career defined by narrative precision and cultural depth. His professional journey gained momentum in 2021 as an intern scriptwriter for Hidden Palms at Fused Dots Studios. His rapid ascent led him to VCL Studios in 2022, where he served as the script editor for the MNET series Urban Life. He then secured a seat in the writing room for two seasons of the hit TV series Damalie by Amani Film House. His versatility extends to short films, including writing The Client and performing in 150k, as well as writing and performing in stage plays such as Culture and The Rebel (2021) and The Alter (2023). A Co-Founder of Dhaadha’s Fireplace; a performing arts house, his mission is to foster a movement that utilizes film and theatre to educate, entertain, and preserve Ugandan roots. Through Dhaadha’s Fireplace, he provides an essential space for storytellers to excel while honoring traditional creative processes.
