Sean Canning has been fascinated with storytelling since early childhood. As a youngster he wrote several short stories based on movies, cartoons and comic books he enjoyed. This led to making his own movies with family and friends.

Canning earned his Associates Degree from Sussex County Community College in January, 1998. While attending college, he continued to make several short films that were aired on the school's television station. In January of 1998, he participated in the "Walt Disney World" College Program, as an attraction's host for "The Great Movie Ride." In the fall of 1998, Canning transferred to California University of Pennsylvania and graduated cum laude with a Bachelors Degree in Radio/TV Communications in May, 2000. In his senior year, he filmed the movie Justice and was awarded top honors with "Best Picture" and "Best Director" at the California University Awards Dinner.

Shortly after graduation, Canning returned to his former school to film a horror movie. Unfortunately, things did not work out and the project collapsed. Upset with that failure, he returned home to New Jersey and decided to try something different. Kana Bear came into his life and a script was written for a full-length movie titled Invisible But Seen. Realizing a feature film with puppets would be next to impossible to complete given the lack of finances and assistance, Canning decided to work on a series of shorts involving a few characters from that screenplay. In 2002, he built a forest set inside his room and filmed Kana Bear and Fluff Fur Roo in their first adventure. What's Buggin' You was completed the following summer and won first place for "Best Puppet/Animation" at the Garden State Film Festival in spring, 2004, and has been adapted into a children's picture book.

Recently, Sean Canning has directed Kana Bear and Fluff Fur Roo in another short movie called Time To Eat. He is currently working with them on another project, which he hopes to be completed by spring, 2005.
