Rabeah Ghaffari
Rabeah Ghaffari is an Iranian-born writer and filmmaker. Her collaborative fiction with artist Shirin Neshat was featured in "Reflections on Islamic Art" and her documentary, "The Troupe", featured Tony Kushner. Ghaffari's debut novel "To Keep The Sun Alive" was selected for the Indie Next List and chosen by The Millions among 2019's Most Anticipated Books. In addition to starred reviews, the novel was lauded by Powell's Books as "...the perfect novel..." and a "tenderhearted novel ... showing the enduring ramifications of filial and political violence" by the New Yorker. Ghaffari's narration of her novel's audio edition was nominated for a Voice Arts Award. Her most recent feature-length screenplay, "The Inheritors", was commissioned by producer/costume designer Patricia Field. Ghaffari is an alumna of IFP, the Berlinale Talent Campus and the Sundance Screenwriters Lab in conjunction with the Royal Film Commission of Jordan. She is based in New York and Mexico.
