Biography

Robert Tuggle was born on April 17, 1932 in Martinsville, Virginia, USA. He is known for Brava Victòria! (2011), The Metropolitan Opera HD Live (2006) and Finding Eleazar (2004). He died on January 24, 2016 in Manhattan, New York, USA.

He graduated in 1954 from Princeton University, where he studied musicology and wrote a thesis on Verdi. Then he served in the Army.

He was the Metropolitan Opera's director of archives for 34 years. He helped in the creation of a digital database that includes details from every performance since the Met opened with Gounod's "Faust" in 1883.
