Biography

Korczak Ziolkowski was born on September 6, 1908 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He was married to Ruth Ross. He died on October 20, 1982 in South Dakota, USA.

After World War II, the government approached him for work on war memorials, but he declined. Instead, he accepted a request by Chief Henry Standing Bear to sculpt a monument dedicated to Chief Crazy Horse. This took place in the Black Hills.

Assisted Gutzon Borglum on the work of Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
