Darlene Violette

Darlene Violette is a New York City based actor, writer, and former stand up comedian. A native of Taunton, Massachusetts, she is a graduate of the Trinity Repertory Conservatory in Providence, Rhode Island. Her recent television credits include the recurring role of Shirley on the Hulu series Furious, Power Book II Ghost, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She appeared opposite Allison Janney and Hugh Jackman in the HBO film Bad Education. Her additional television credits include Pose, The Punisher, The Path, Bull, Show Me a Hero, Louie, 30 Rock, Ugly Betty, Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, and Mildred Pierce, opposite Kate Winslet. Her film credits include Premium Rush, 2 Days in New York, The Hungry Ghosts, Eugene the Marine, and Tiger. Darlene performed stand up comedy throughout New York City and the surrounding area for 12 years. She presented her own show at Caroline's on Broadway and worked as an audience warm up comedian for The Ricki Lake Show. She has also appeared extensively in New York theatre, independent films, and national commercial and print campaigns. As a writer, Darlene has created plays, screenplays, sketches, short films, and a limited TV series. Her original projects include a stage play and a screenplay inspired by the life and career of Mae West.
