- Actor
Mario Fernández Carrasco is a Spanish screenwriter and actor, born in Jaén, Andalusia. He made his writing debut with the short film Autónomos, a project where he participated as a co-writer and actor. Autónomos went on to collect the first prize at the 48×3 Marathon Competition of FICAL (Almería International Film Festival).
He took a BA in English Studies at UJA with a mention in Literature and Cultural Studies. After working as a translator and subtitler in several projects by Spanish filmmakers, he took up an acting role in the feature film La Sombra del Quebrantahuesos (The Shadow of the Bearded Vulture), which he was set to translate. His passion for acting led him to join ESADLAE, a cross-disciplinary creation center and acting school, where he would continue developing as an actor with training in musical theater and voice acting.
In Spring 2025, he became involved in the development of a new project, the international short film Sábado a las 3 (Saturday at 3). Collaborating with American screenwriter and director, Marisa Gershenhorn, they brought to life an experimental short film that Gershenhorn envisioned back in the US, now in Spain.
Focused on his own writing and the development of a series set to release on 2026, he always finds time for acting.
He is a member of ASECAN (Asociación de Escritores Cinematográficos de Andalucía) and Jaén Audiovisual, a society of filmmakers to foster the development of the film industry in that region, an area beyond traditional film hubs.
