- Coombs has spent much of her life in the political / public affairs sector. She was married for 13 years to a British Member of Parliament, Simon Coombs. Her late mother, the Hon. Jo-Anne L. Coe, was chief of staff to Senator Bob Dole, having worked for him for 33 years and was the first woman to serve as Secretary of the US Senate.
- Most of her pets (5 horses, 2 dogs, 3 cats, 1 sheep) have TV or film acting credits. She acquired Agnes, her pet sheep, after Agnes' featured performance as "the lamb of God" in National Geographic's "Mysteries of the Bible". Mariah (gray Arabian horse) knows the commands "action", "cut" and "back to one" after her work as one of Stonewall Jackson's staff officers' horses on "Gods and Generals".
