- During the '80s, James made his way to fame with the younger generation on his hit TV show, "The Afternoon Show". Kids would literally run home from school to watch his show and the cartoons he presented such as Astroboy, the Lost Cities of Gold and Inspector Gadget.

- Attended Ballarat Grammar School where he learned saxophone, performing in the local area.
- Member of the bands Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons, Models, Pseudo Echo and Absent Friends.
