Alumnus of Colgate University, Graduate Studies at the School of Drama at Yale University and New York University.

First job in the industry was as a NBC Page.

Winner of two Emmy awards for direction - Denyce Graves: Breaking the Rules and The Eighth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Winner of Peabody Award - The Cliburn: Playing on the Edge.

Director of several daytime soaps, including Guiding Light, As The World Turns, and Our Group.

Early in his career Skog was tapped as Associate Director for the series Live From Lincoln Center and later for the series Live From The Metropolitan Opera. Since 2008 he has served as primary director for Live From Lincoln Center.
