A 2024 and 2025 Sundance Directing fellow, Michelle has over 20 years experience in the entertainment industry. Her films blend a commitment to authentic representation with a visually stunning cinematic style. Michelle recently directed the multi-million dollar action feature, "Switch & Bait", shot on location in Serbia, starring Otmara Marrero and Katie Clarkson-Hill. Born in Miami, of Cuban descent, she graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in film studies. Michelle Salcedo’s directorial debut, "Piel Canela", won eight festival jury prizes at Academy qualifying film festivals. She most recently directed, "Bye Bye Barbarito" for a Netflix incubator. Her micro-budget feature, "Woman of the House" was a semi-finalist at Flickers' R.I. International Film Festival and won the audience choice award, "Best Narrative Feature" at the Mystic Film Festival.
As a Creative Advertising executive at Miramax Films, she worked on Academy award winning films. She was the lead editor on over 50 episodes of TV for networks, Bravo, MTV, VH1, and TLC. She's a Rideback RISE 2025 fellow. By creating compelling, character-driven work in TV and Film, Michelle hopes to empower future generations of filmmakers to express their unique visions.
