Biography

Saphira Moran is a proud Wiradjuri Celtic Australian woman. She comes from a long line of artists in Sydney including one of Australia’s most famous set designers Leslie Board who designed for J.C. Williams in the 1920s and 30s.

Saphira trained with the Australian Youth Choir and spent five years training with La Voce Contemporary School. She has studied radio performance and undertaken numerous Voice Overs including for the NIB Literary Award. She has been recognized for her impressionist piano compositions.

She has performed as Calpurnia in Julius Caesar (dir. Robert Jago), Pistol in Henry V (dir. Robert Jago), Duke Frederick and Audrey in As You Like It (dir. Adam Cook), Katerina Shcherbatsky (Kitty) in Anna Karenina (dir. Clara Voda), Maud and Victoria in Cloud Nine (dir. Cristabel Sved), Donny (Donna) in The Lieutenant of lnishmore (dir. Reid McGowan), Kenny Carter in The Removalists (dir. Johann Walraven), Ken in Red (dir. Troy Harrison), Bridget in A Moment on the Lips (dir. Claudia Barrie), and also appeared in the devised work The Unnameable Present (dir. Anthony Skuse and Julia Cotton).

Saphira remains committed to indigenous causes continuing to work with the Literacy for Life Foundation, ensuring women in remote indigenous communities are given the opportunity to read and be leaders in their communities.
