Biography

W.C. Heinz was born on January 11, 1915 in Mount Vernon, New York, USA. He was a writer, known for Run to Daylight (1964), Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson (2004) and The Sweet Science (1999). He was married to Elizabeth Heinz. He died on February 27, 2008 in Bennington, Vermont, USA.

Coauthor with H. Richard Hornberger of the novel "MASH", the basis for the hit movie and TV series, under the pseudonym Richard Hooker.

Worked for the New York Sun newspaper from 1937-50, starting out as a copy boy and graduating to reporter and war correspondent.
