Biography

Oona was born and raised in New York City, the daughter of filmmaker and poet Jonas Mekas and Hollis Melton. As well as being an actor, she has played the violin since the age of four, and has just finished writing a children's book. She had the honor of studying with the late Fred Kareman in New York City.

Spent her junior high school and high school years at Professional Children's School in New York City.

When she was twelve, she was the main model for the children's book, "Tutu" by Audrey Chevance.

Has played the violin since the age of four.

Her first screen appearance was at the early age of 2 1/2 years old in her father's film, "Paradise Not Yet Lost, or Oona's Third Year".
