His father, Syed Faheem Zaidi, popularly known by his pen name Azmi Rampuri, is a renowned poet and lyricist, while his grandfather, Hashmi Rampuri, was also a celebrated Urdu poet. Azeem Zaidi Nawaz's first mentor in the world of filmmaking was Producer and Writer S. Fazilat Khan, who taught him the art and structure of film writing.
