Biography

  • In May 2004, Henry B. Lee completed an M.F.A. in film at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. He was the recipient of the Chair's Scholarship, Dean's Fellowship, and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Graduate Fellowship.

    Prior to beginning his film career in New York, his occupation in photography started with 8 years on staff at Union Theological Seminary and freelance for the Richmond Times Dispatch.

    He graduated Cum Laude with a B.F.A. in Communication Arts and Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and also holds a degree in photography/multi-media from the Art Institute Pittsburgh.

    During his course at NYU, he wrote, produced, and directed four short films, photographed and associate produced two Student Academy Award winning movies, Island to Island, and Family Values. At Spike Lee's request, Henry worked in the art department on the feature film 25th Hour. In 2006, the NYU faculty selected his feature script A Blue Ridge Morning as a finalist for the Richard Vague Production Fund award.

    His producing credits include Sesame Street (PBS), industrial films for corporations such as Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Wyeth, Merck, GlaxsoSmithKline, 3M, and Honeywell. RCS Media Group/Bompiani/Rizzolli Publishing has commissioned Henry to shoot and direct literary promotions with authors Michael Cunningham, Erica Jong, Jay McInerney, and publisher Morgan Entriken and editor Gary Fisketjon.
