  • Arash T. Riahi is a director, producer, script-writer and dramatic consultant born in 1972 in Iran. He moved to Austria in 1982. After studying film and the arts at the University of Vienna, he worked several years as a freelancer in the youth and art department of the ORF/Austrian Broadcasting Network. In 1997, he co-founded the film and media production company Golden Girls Filmproduktion in Vienna. His body of work as a director & producer, which has won more than 200 international awards, comprises various short and experimental films ('Mississippi; 'That Has Been Bothering Me The Whole Time'), commercials, music videos and documentaries, including 'The Souvenirs of Mr. X', 'Exile Family Movie' or the cross-media project 'Everyday Rebellion' that he made with his brother Arman T. Riahi. His first fiction film 'For a Moment Freedom' was Austria's candidate for the Academy Awards in 2010. Since 2010. He is a member of the European Filmacademy, the Austrian Directors & Producers Guild, European Producers Network as well as part of the ACE-Producers Network. Recent works include the documentary "Born in Evin" by Maryam Zaree, which was awarded the Compass Perspektive award at the Berlinale 2019 as well as "Solo" by Artemio Benki, which premiered at the Cannes Filmfestival 2019. His fiction film "Where no one knows us" won 22 awards. His 2025 documentary Girls & Gods (co-directed with Verena Soltiz), featuring Inna Shevchenko, premiered at Cph:Dox and won the main award of the Biografilmfestival, as well as the Special Jury Award of the Viennale. Perla, a film that he produced was awarded best Austrian Film 2026.
