  • Sebastian Marka was born in 1978 in Geneva, Switzerland. He studied cinematography at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg, Germany and initially worked mainly as an editor for film and TV.

One of his first directorial works, the short thriller film Interview (2010) received numerous German and international festival awards. After that Marka directed, among other things, several episodes of the famous German crime series Tatort (1970). Many of his episodes were praised by the German press and received prizes. So Marka won the prestigious German Grimme Award for the episode Meta (2018) and an audience award at the Nashville Film Festival, USA for the episode Es lebe der Tod (2016).

The screenwriter Erol Yesilkaya, with whom he has been working successfully since 2012, wrote the scripts for seven of the Tatort episodes, Marka directed. With Yesilkaya, he also realized the dystopian science fiction film Exit (2020), which was broadcast by German national television channel "Das Erste".

In 2021 Marka founded the production company "DOG HAUS" together with Yesilkaya and producer André Zoch.
