Biography

Amy Purdy was a competitive snowboarder for 5 years and an aspiring actress. In 1999 she contracted an illness that threatened her life, She survived but at a cost: she walked out of the hospital with prosthetic legs, her father also donated a kidney to her. She has returned to her love of snowboarding, competing in and placing in competitions, and with a passion for acting, no doubt we will be seeing more of her.

Won an Olympic bronze medal in snowboarding in 2014.

Became a double amputee at age 19.

Has a sister named Crystal.

(August 29, 2015) Married her boyfriend of 14 years Daniel Gale afternoon in front of approximately 160 guests at The Barn at Hidden Springs in Boise, Idaho following a 3-month-long engagement.

In February 2019, she developed massive blood clot which forced her to choose between saving her leg or kidney. She ended up choosing her leg, and doctors continue to keep an eye on her kidney.
