Biography

David Leveaux was born on December 13, 1957 in London, England, UK. He is a director, known for Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert (2018), The Exception (2016) and National Theatre Live: Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (2017).

Has been nominated for Broadway's Tony Award five times: as Best Director (Play), in 1984 for a revival of Eugene O'Neill's "A Moon for the Misbegotten," in 1993 for a revival of Eugene O'Neill's "Anna Christie," in 2000 for a revival of Tom Stoppard's "The Real Thing;" and in 2004 for a revival of Tom Stoppard's "Jumpers;" and as Best Director (Musical), in 2003 for a revival of "Nine The Musical." He has yet to win.

Offstage companion of ballet dancer Viviana Durante.

David Leveaux & Alex Rudzinski were nominated for the 2018 Emmy Award in the Outstanding Directing For A Limited Series, Movie Or Dramatic Special category for Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert (2018), but lost to Ryan Murphy for The Man Who Would Be Vogue (2018).
