Biography

Staceyann Chin was born on December 25, 1972 in Lottery, Jamaica. She is an actress and producer, known for Across the Universe (2007), A Mother Apart (2024) and Black./Womyn.: Conversations with Lesbians of African Descent (2008).

She is a poet and gay-rights activist

She is of Jamaican and Chinese descent

Raised by her deaf and illiterate grandmother until she was 9, and then shuttled between relatives and boarding school.
