- Jay Yorke was known on stage and screen as a character actor and comedian. Although contemporary articles mentioned that, in 1917, Jay Yorke left Thanhauser to direct comedies for Samuel Goldwyn, he shortly left the profession to serve in World War I as an infantry officer, fighting in the battle for the Argonne, where he was gassed. Upon returning home to Philadelphia, in May of 1919, he became a successful real estate agent.
