The square in front of the University of Munich was called "Geschwister-Scholl-Platz" to honor Sophie Scholl and Hans Scholl.

Shared an apartment with his sister Sophie Scholl when he studied medicine at the University of Munich.

Became member of the "Weiße Rose" (White Rose) resistance group against the Nazi regime in 1942 and participated in the production and distribution of leaflets. On 18 February 1943, he was arrested while distributing another leaflet together with his sister Sophie. On 22 February 1943, they and their friend Christoph Probst were condemned to death and executed.
