Rochus Misch was born on 29 July 1917 in Alt Schalkowitz, Silesia, Germany [now Stare Siolkowice, Opolskie, Poland]. He was married to Gerda Lacjmund. He died on 5 September 2013 in Berlin, Germany.
He outlived Heinrich Schmieder, who played him in Downfall (2004), by more than three years: Schmieder died on July 21, 2010 at the age of 40 while Misch died on September 5, 2013 at the age of 96.
