Biography

Jeremy Black was born on October 30, 1955 in London, England, UK. He is a writer, known for Monarchy with David Starkey (2004), Dam Busters: The Race to Smash the German Dams (2011) and Castles: Britain's Fortified History (2014). He has been married to Elizabeth Sarah Hollis since September 7, 1981. They have two children.

He was awarded the M.B.E. (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for his services to stamp design in the 2000 Queen's Millennium Honours List.

He was employed as a lecturer, reader, and professor at the University of Durham until 1996.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Cambridge University and received his doctorate at Oxford University.
