- Loyd Bateman is a British-Canadian-American director, action designer, fight coordinator and second unit director with more than two decades of experience in feature film and television. His work spans major studio productions including "Mayday," "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3," "Loki," "Hawkeye," "Echo," "Malignant," "Avengers: Endgame," "Avengers: Infinity War" and "The Revenant."
Most recently, Bateman served as Fight Coordinator on "Mayday," directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Ryan Reynolds and Branagh. He designed the film's fight sequences and worked closely with Branagh, Reynolds and the principal cast to develop and execute the action. His other fight coordination and action credits include "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3," "Loki," "Hawkeye," "Echo" and "Malignant."
Bateman's career has evolved from elite stunt performance into action design, fight and stunt coordination, second unit direction and directing. He made his feature directorial debut with "Crimson Cove" and has directed second unit on international productions. As a member of the stunt ensemble of "Avengers: Endgame," Bateman received a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble.
Born in Norwich, England and raised in Canada, Bateman holds citizenship in the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States, giving him exceptional flexibility to work across major international production hubs. He is fluent in English and Portuguese and conversational in Spanish, with extensive experience working on productions internationally.

- Loyd Bateman was born was born in 1977 in Norwich, England and spent the first four years of his life between Nigeria and South Africa where his parents were working in hotel management. Loyd grew up in Canada making his way with his mother and three siblings from the East coast cosmopolitan city of Toronto to the West coast city of Vancouver. Loyd found himself drawn to the study of Capoeira, the Afro Brazilian martial art. His training and intensive study brought him to Brazil several times.
