Ryan Hodgson

  • In his more than twenty years in the screen industry Ryan Hodgson has developed, financed and produced short, feature film and television drama and multiple award-winning television commercial campaigns. His producing credits include the feature films I Met A Girl, Blame and Justice, and almost 200 commercials for clients including WA Tourism, Lotterywest, Bankwest and Ikea.

    Ryan most recently Line Produced the 10x 15 min Indigenous themed children's comedy-drama series Thalu for Weerianna Street Media, Screenwest, Screen Australia, NITV, ABC Television and the Australian Children's Television Foundation.

    Ryan has worked at Screenwest at regular intervals since the late 1990's and was the agency's Production Investment Manager from 2012-2016. In that time he managed more than $20M of funding in documentary and drama productions with budgets totalling more than $150M including the feature films Breath, Paper Planes, Jasper Jones and Red Dog: True Blue, and the documentaries Whiteley, Family Rules, The War That Changed Us, Is Australia Racist and Art X *West. He also acted in the position of Director of Production where he oversaw the management of Screenwest's production investment and business development funding programs and advised the agency's Chief Executive and Board on related policy matters.

    Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts, English with majors in Film and Television and Language and Culture from Curtin University. He has previously lectured at TAFE and the Film & Television Institute (FTI), and in 2020 he taught Producing to second year students at Notre Dame University in Fremantle.

    From 2008-2011 Ryan was the Western Australian Chapter Head of Screen Producers Australia (SPA).
