- Married Stewart Carnall, a California booking agent who was Johnny Cash's manager in the late 1950's. She was only 17 at the time and Carnall was nearly twice her age. She was on tour with Cash when she met and soon eloped with Carnall.
- Ricky Nelson, who had a keen interest in rockabilly, had seen Collins perform on Ranch Party (1957), and went to the set to meet her. She and Nelson were soon engaged, but instead, she secretly eloped with Cash's manager, Stew Carnall, just after New Year's Day in 1959.
