- In 1976, she launched SUPPORT, a foundation which has trained thousands of villagers in silk-weaving, jewelry-making, painting, ceramics and other traditional crafts.
- She also set up wildlife breeding centers, "open zoos," and hatcheries to save endangered sea turtles.
