Biography

Elvira Avakyan is Soviet animator, art director, screenwriter and director of animated films. Elvira was born in Amerevo, Moscow Region. She graduated from the Moscow regional art school in 1967, in 1973 Elvira graduated from the art faculty of VGIK. In 1973-1978 Elvira Avakyan was animated films artist of the studio "Soyuzmultfilm". Since 1978 up to 1991 she was director and animated artist of the studio "Armenfilm". In 1992 Avakyan became director of the studio "Soyuzmultfilm". In 2002 at Open Russian Festival of Animated Film Suzdal-2002 Elvira got diploma of the jury for the film Letalka (2001) as the most charming film for children.
