Ian Dunlop was born on October 28, 1927 in London, England, UK. He was a director and producer, known for In Memory of Mawalan (1984), Baniyala: The Yirrkala Film Project (1996) and Festival in Adelaide (1962). He died on September 10, 2021 in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia.

He was awarded the O.A.M. (Order of Australia Medal) in the 1986 Queen's New Years Honours List for his services to public, particularly in the field of ethnographic film making.
