Ben Sainsbury, born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and raised in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, embodies the diverse spirit of North America. After completing high school, he ventured to California and Arizona, where he spent 16 years honing his craft in acting. He earned his bachelor's degree in filmmaking from Prescott College in 1996, and in 2005, he achieved a Master's in Professional Writing from the University of Southern California and in 2024 he earned a PhD in Computer Science from Ontario Tech University.
A proud veteran of the US Army Reserve, Sainsbury served as a sergeant in the 361 Psychological Operations Division, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country.
Sainsbury's animated film, Private Snuffy, sheds light on the harrowing incidents of torture and prisoner abuse by military interrogators at Abu Ghraib. Premiering on April 12, 2011, at the Tiburon International Film Festival, Private Snuffy garnered critical acclaim, winning 'Best Animation' at the 2011 Cinefest in Sudbury, Ontario, and 'Best Short Documentary' at the 2011 Rincon, Puerto Rico Film Festival. His work stands as a testament to his dedication to truth and justice.
