Steven Sarao

Steven Sarao has a persuasive mix of drive and tenacity, while being articulate and warm in every role. A graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Drama Program, Steven brings a high level of intensity and human interest to the characters he creates. Whether in comedy or drama, there is a relentless intellectual drive in his work. A master's degree holder from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, Steven is a deeply intelligent actor, with a distinctive, deep, compelling voice and a charming smile that drives performances.

With over twenty-two years of experience with the NYPD, Steven's characters are inherently real. Steven has served on the front lines, leading real-world challenges. Steven is a Department of Justice subject matter expert and instructor of international and domestic terrorism. His commanding presence shows this level of authentic experience, grit, all with warmth and true human spirit.

Sarao served as a post graduate fellow at Harvard's Criminal Justice Policy and Management Program and is called upon as a police technical advisor, news commentator, and lecturer at top tier universities and conferences on topics related to law enforcement practices, and international and domestic terrorism.

Sarao's writing has been published in the Harvard Kennedy School Review, Harvard Africa Policy Journal, American Police Beat, The Jewish Week, and The Star Ledger.

Sarao is the author of The Boys of Kingsbridge, a full length play set in 1999, a moment for New York baseball fans, lifelong friends and NYPD partners. The play is a gritty nineties look through blue colored lenses at New York City and what it means to be a best friend from the Bronx. Sarao is completing his first non-fiction novel, The Dreams of Little Boys Create Men, a memoir on Policing in America. Steven has also created number of developing film, television and theatre projects that are within his area of expertise.
