- Ben Sherwood is the Co-Founder and CEO of The Moat, a technology-driven media company launched in 2024. A veteran of the highest levels of the entertainment industry, Sherwood previously served as the Co-Chairman of Disney Media Networks and the President of Disney-ABC Television Group from 2014 to 2019. During his tenure at Disney, he oversaw a global portfolio of over 100 channels, including the ABC Television Network, ABC News, Disney Channels Worldwide, and Freeform, as well as the company’s equity interest in A+E Networks and Hulu.
Prior to his role as Co-Chairman, Sherwood served as the President of ABC News (2010-2014), where he led the division to the #1 position in morning and evening news for the first time in over two decades. He is credited with the successful launch of the "fusion" joint venture with Univision and the digital transformation of the newsroom. His career in journalism began as a producer for PrimeTime Live and ABC World News Tonight, and he later served as the executive producer of Good Morning America.
Beyond his executive career, Sherwood is a highly successful author. His 2004 novel, The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud, was adapted into a major motion picture starring Zac Efron in 2010. He also authored the New York Times bestseller The Survivors Club and the novel The Man Who Ate the 747. In 2020, he co-founded Mojo, a high-growth youth sports technology platform, serving as its CEO until its acquisition.

- In 1981, Sherwood graduated from Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles. In 1986, he graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard with an AB degree in American government and history. From 1986 to 1989, he was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, where he earned masters degrees in British imperial and commonwealth history and development economics.
