Joy Williams is a four-time Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter and actress from Santa Cruz, CA who resides in Nashville, TN with husband, Nate Yetton and son, Miles Yetton. She is best-known as one half of the popular duo The Civil Wars. Joy made her acting debut in July of 2016 as Janine Beckwith on the Showtime series Roadies, created by Cameron Crowe, JJ Abrams and Winnie Holzman. She continues to write and record music in addition to exploring new creative experiences as an actress. (July 2016).

Graduated from high school in June 2001 as valedictorian (4.0 GPA) and student body president. She also recorded her debut album during her senior year along with being a varsity athlete.
Previously part of the musical duo, The Civil Wars, with John Paul White. They released a debut album entitled "Barton Hollow" in 2011 and contributed songs to the Hunger Games soundtrack in 2012. Their second and last album, "The Civil Wars" was released in 2013 after the duo's breakup.
Was a singer of contemporary-Christian pop music.
Has released three contemporary Christian albums: "Joy Williams" (2001), "By Surprise" (2002), & "Genesis" (2005).
Joy and Nate share their wedding anniversary with her parents and maternal grandparents.

It's not what you do, it's who you are. God gives each of us certain gifts to use for His glory, and I'm just thankful that I get to be a vessel for his love at this season in my life. At the end of the day, though, what matters most is that I'm a child of God.
It wasn't just that I loved singing. It was that I loved people. I loved how God allowed me to be used in people's lives, to be a vessel of His delight in them, in us. That part doesn't have anything to do with me. I knew I could sing, but a lot of people can sing.
It's a funny thing how God intrinsically weaves different desires in your heart, how they grow or wither over time. In trying to follow what God had for me, those desires [for music] began to grow.
I feel lucky to have been able to make music, and am thankful to have just been released from my record deal after asking out because of needing a change for awhile. Fighting for what I believe, not being on the road constantly, and being at home in the freedom to dream has given me back my sense of self. I remain passionate about connecting with people, about making art that is creative, relevant, vulnerable, inclusive and hopeful...no matter what my profession may be.
