Djawa Yunupingu
Djawa Yunupingu is a significant and respected Indigenous Australian leader, elder, and advocate from the Yolngu people of Northeast Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. He comes from a family of influential leaders, including his brother, the late Galarrwuy Yunupingu AM (a towering figure in land rights, former chairman of the Northern Land Council, and Australian of the Year in 1978), and his brother Mandawuy Yunupingu AC (lead singer of Yothu Yindi and Australian of the Year in 1992). Djawa currently serves as the Chairman of the Yothu Yindi Foundation, an organisation established to promote Yolngu cultural development, education, and reconciliation.
