Born in Mexico City to a Mexican actor/actress duo, ATA's family tree has artistic branches as far as one can look back, from composer great grandfather (composer of the danzón classic "Juárez No Debió Morir") on his mothers' side, to the lyricist of the Mexican national anthem, Francisco González Bocanegra, on his fathers' side (or so the family legend goes).
ATA has spent the bulk of his 33 years of life between Mexico City and Los Angeles, soaking himself up in both cultures, understanding and feeling both of them to the degree of saying that he is neither Mexican, nor American, nor Mexican-American, but an entirely new breed: he talks the talk and walks the walk of these neighboring worlds. ATA is not just a voice actor, but an actor through and through, and to paraphrase the bard and Gertrude Stein, "an actor is an actor is an actor is an actor".
A full time creator and artist, ATA's been the Mexican dubbing voice for Simon Basset of Bridgerton and Bullwinkle in The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, as well as the Mexican Audio Description director and voice actor for the Netflix Original Productions of A Trip To Infinity and The Watcher, and Mexican AD director for Alejandro G. Iñárritu's Bardo), as well as being a creature of theatre and film as an actor, writer, director, and producer. His short movie Nuestra Tierra, which he wrote, directed and edited, was nominated for 4 awards in 2022's Smartfilms Festival, including Best Short. It won Best Actress and Best Editing.
He spent his elementary years between Hollywood's Little Red School House and Mexico City and never finished high school, being more often than not "the one sleeping in his seat". He's known people from all walks of life and despite never having wanted and living a rather privileged existence, is interested in people from all walks of life. He went on to study sports journalism in Mexico City, musical post-production in LA, and worked (and wasted his time) in a post-production studio in NY, waiting tables in West New York for most of his time there. He the returned to Mexico City, where the stage presented itself to him like a long-lost lover from a life before... and they've been inseparable ever since.
Having grown being taken back and forth from different cultures and languages, and feeling like such an outsider, ATA developed a love for sound and movies: from the Korean store owner down the block, to Disney and Amores Perros, all the way to his neighbors, that Australian kid in the 3rd grade and the local soccer match near his Jr. High School; movies and people are how ATA learned, relearned and thrice learned communication time and time again.
In his spare time, ATA enjoys reading, watching movies and going to the theatre, eating, resting, "wasting" time with his friends and family, writing and giving acting workshops, as well as playing with his other artistic interests. He also writes poetry. And every once in a while, has hour long conversations with his dad (whom he learns to see as he is), giggles with his little sister, empathizes with his mother and meditates.
