Biography

Wladimir Kaminer was born on July 19, 1967 in Moscow, RSFSR, USSR [now Russia]. He is an actor and writer, known for Russendisko (2012), Anderswo (2014) and Kaminer Inside (2018). He is married to Olga Gura. They have two children.

Lives with his wife Olga, who also emigrated to Germany in 1990, and their two children in Berlin.

Was trained to be an audio engineer, but later studied dramaturgy at the Moscow Institute of Theater.

As he regularly has DJed at his "Russendiskos" (Russian discos), during which he plays music by Russian bands at the Kaffee Burger in Berlin, he called his first bestselling book "Russendisko" (2000, published in English in 2002).
