Marco Pierre White was the world's youngest three-Michelin-starred chef at 33, but renounced his stars when he retired from day-to-day cooking in 1999.

Michelin-star chef born in Britain to an Italian mother.

He was a mentor of Gordon Ramsay, who worked in his restaurant Harveys for almost three years.

According to his memoir, he initially never had a passport and yet managed to enter and leave France showing his fishing licence.

White had a Japanese assistant called Mr Ishii, who chauffeured him everywhere, as White never had a driving licence. Mr Ishii retired some time in 2015.

On the 20th March 1978 he started his apprenticeship at the Hotel St George in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, UK.
